Introducing our Honorary Chair.....

We are extremely excited to introduce you to our Collingwood Run for the Cure Sites first ever
Honorary Chair........

Scott Thornton

I first met Scott a year ago after contacting him about doing one of the video shout outs for the blog, which he was more than happy to do. Scott & his family have been very supportive of our local Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation events, from the run to the romp. So this year when thinking of a Honorary Chair Scott was who came to mind and we couldn't be happier that he was interested in taking on the role.

After spending 18 seasons in the NHL, Scott, his wife Joelle and children Nash & Zoe moved to Collingwood / Blue Mountain. Scott opened Crossfit Indestri last fall, he now spends his days training other's in the gym and earlier this month Scott took part in his first ever Ironman in Austria which he completed in an amazing 11 hours and 38 mins, making him the fastest NHLer to ever complete an Ironman.

We are truly honoured to have Scott as our first ever honorary chair.

Tune in to The Chats program on 95.1 The Peak FM on Thursday July 28th at 9:00 am to hear Scott along with our Community Outreach Coordinator Michele Smeh ( who is also a member of Crossfit and the team captain for their Run for the Cure team ) Chat with John about the exciting Challenge that they have issued to ALL the other gyms / fitness clubs in the area.....

On Sunday October 2nd, Scott will be running for his Wife, his Daugher, his Mother....

Dr. John Semple sends his appreciation to Collingwood

Last night we had the honour of having Dr. John Semple attend and speak at the 3rd Annual Information & Appreciation night for the Collingwood Run for the Cure site, held at Blue Mountain.

Dr. Semple is the Chief of Surgery at Women's College Hospital in Toronto and has been named the first Chair of Surgical Research for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Ontario Region. It was wonderful to hear from Dr. Semple about how important our fundraising is and to be able to give us first hand knowledge as to how money that everyone works so hard to fundraise is truly helping to create a future without breast cancer.

Dr. Semple sends his Thanks to our Collingwood Run for the Cure Site.....

When was the last time you squeezed your lemons ?
